General & Family Physician 's  Response
Only Oral Rehydation solution is enough in children as most of their GI infections are viral. Viral infections are self limiting and the only treatment recommended in children is maintaining hydration. As the child is drinking fluids it is preferable to give ORS. If the child is having 3-4 wet diapers in 24 hours, then there is no need to worry
For more sever cases Intra venous fluids might be required.
Drugs that reduce vomiting are not advised.
Take the child to hospital if he becomes lethargic, stops passing urine, skin appears dry, sunken eyes.
Do not worry. Viral illnesses subside 2-3 days, just maintain hydration and blood glucose.
Hope this helps, Thank you.
